Lazorpoint, Inc.
Network Engineering Services

After being in business for three years, Dave Lazor felt like he was still a one-man operation. He couldn’t seem to find the right people. Business growth was stalled – one step forward and two steps back.

Don Steiner was referred to Lazor as a prospective employee and after getting to know one another, they realized they had a shared vision and cultural values. They made one less than successful hire before their streak of good hires. They evaluated what was good in those hires, analyzed, formulated and repeated. They initiated personnel profile testing, identified and codified the company culture and values, and initiated and implemented a branding program. They realized that they needed to build the company, not just billable hours. Clients had always liked the results, but Lazor was approaching burnout by doing so much himself.

Clients are now comfortable with Lazorpoint, Inc., not just Dave Lazor, who is no longer the most important guy to the clients. He is now focused on working ON the business, not IN the business. Clients trust the company – that is made up of great people. Since 2000, the business has grown considerably by every measure: from three to ten employees, tripled the office space with new, higher grade quarters, a full-time office administrator and 100% retention.

Lazor learned that success breeds success. Good personnel hires led to additional good hires. The right people “on the bus” make all the difference. He shares that he should have done the right things sooner – gained a clear understanding of the company values and defined the culture as soon as possible. Lazor also suggests making investments wisely – don’t fear spending according to a plan. Know and measure the numbers. Measure and consider risk and reward. Build confidence in your clients, your people, your business partners and yourself.
